Four classes. Ten branches.

The original Explorers and nothing else. You pick at level 10, branch at 30, and spend every point by hand — so the choice sticks.

Dances with BalrogWarrior character

Warrior

Dances with Balrog · Perion · primary stat STR

24%

of beta characters

High HP, heavy weapons, barely any positioning to think about. The reason most people picked it in 2005.

Second job at level 30

  • Fighter

Sword and axe, with the Rage party buff.

  • Page

Sword and blunt, built around defence.

  • Spearman

Spear and polearm, and Hyper Body for the party.

You get 61 SP by level 30 and maxing the tree costs 105 — so you must choose. Power Strike 20, Slash Blast 20, Max HP 15, HP Recovery 3 takes 58 of them. Spend AP 4 STR / 1 DEX.

Grendel the Really OldMagician character

Magician

Grendel the Really Old · Ellinia · primary stat INT

32%

of beta characters

Brutal for ten levels, then the fastest clear speed in the game. The most-created class in the beta.

Second job at level 30

  • Fire/Poison Wizard

Damage over time, and the highest ceiling.

  • Ice/Lightning Wizard

    Freeze control and reliable mobbing.

  • Cleric

Heal doubles as a damage spell against undead.

Cleric's Heal damages undead, which makes it near-mandatory against Rotten Mushmom — 864 HP regenerated per tick punishes a slow party.

Athena PierceBowman character

Bowman

Athena Pierce · Henesys · primary stat DEX

14%

of beta characters

Ranged and safe, and the only class that has to think about arrows. Fewer than one beta character in seven picked it.

Second job at level 30

  • Hunter

Bows, faster attacks, Arrow Bomb for crowds.

  • Crossbowman

    Crossbows, harder single hits, slower.

The point-blank melee bug that made Archers miserable up close is fixed, so a bad pull costs less than it used to.

Dark LordThief character

Thief

Dark Lord · Kerning City · primary stat LUK

30%

of beta characters

Nearly as popular as Magician in the beta, and home to Hermit — though 3rd job is not in at launch.

Second job at level 30

  • Assassin

    Throwing stars and Lucky Seven.

  • Bandit

Daggers and Double Stab, up close.

Your first skill point locks the branch: Lucky Seven means Assassin, Double Stab means Bandit. No undo — decide before you spend.

Not at launch

Third job, whenever it arrives

3rd Job Advancement was playable in the second closed test and is not in the Founder's Access or Grand Launch build. Nexon is reworking it, and has said it will carry “a lot of changes” — so treat the names below as the shape of the tree, not a promise about the skills inside it.

  • Tylus

    Warrior — Crusader

  • Robeira

    Magician — Mage (Fire/Poison), Mage (Ice/Lightning), Priest

  • Rene

    Bowman — Ranger

  • Arec

    Thief — Hermit

Hermit was the most popular 3rd job class of the second test. Since 3rd job is not in the launch build, that race starts over.

Popularity figures describe Closed Online Test #2, not launch. We leave out the old 1st-job stat gates on purpose: nobody has confirmed Classic World kept them, and a wrong number costs you a character.
